Divine Power

There is power available to help you live victorious in this world today. It is found in the word of God and it is for all those who have been saved by Jesus Christ. This divine power lives in you! We have everything we need to live a godly lifestyle and escape the world's corruption caused by sinful fleshly desires.3 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.5 In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge,6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness,7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.8 The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. These verses say we have already been given God's divine power with which to live our lives. Since this is so, why do many go to "how to" classes to try to get something that only God can give. Power to live for God doesn't come from "How to" books and information. Power to live for God has already been given to us verse 3 says. We received this power when we came to know God through salvation by Jesus Christ. We have [past tense] been given this power. It resides in us. We need to quit asking for power when we already have it. We simply need to begin to use the power of God within. We must read about the divine promises that have been given to us through God's word and then begin to live in those promises. Faith without works is dead. Some are lazy and want someone else to read and study the bible for them. This is dangerous because you can be lead astray if you don't read the bible for yourself. Verse 4 says that through these promises we become partakers or sharers in God's nature. Then through sharing in God's nature we overcome the world's corruption caused by fleshly desires. Verse 5 says we are to make every effort to respond to these promises of God. In other words we are to put them to use or else they do us no good. We are to supplement God's promises with the things listed in verses 5-7. Scroll back and read them! When you do this verse 8 says you will be more productive and useful in your knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words you will be putting all God's divine power to use and you will begin to live as Jesus did. God is in the process of conforming us Christian's to the image of His Son Jesus Christ. [Romans:8:29 NKJV].If we fail to do this verse 9 says we are shortsighted or blind and we forget we have been cleansed from our old sins and that means we live a defeated life and never accomplish God's will for our lives. Christian, read God's word daily! Study it! Then live it! We have God's divine power in us and we can not make excuses when God says we have been given everything we need to overcome the world's corruption caused by fleshly desires. There are no excuses! If you are reading this and you are not a Christian, you do not have God's power to help you. You must ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins against God and then invite Him into your life to take charge of you. Then if you are sincere in having your sins forgiven and receiving this power that comes only from God, go to church and be baptized in Jesus' name. Then join that church and begin to worship, praise, and serve God there. If you aren't willing to do this then you are not sincere and you are still in your sins. Christians let's begin to live in the divine power God has already given us. Let's make a difference in this world. We can because God says we can with His power. Hallelujah!
