Thanksgiving to God

November is Thanksgiving Month. The bible has much to say about being thankful to God. The greatest thing that you can give God is yourself and your thanksgiving for all He is, and all He has done, is doing and going to do for you.

I. Psalm 116:17 (NLT) I will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD. Sacrifice is when you maybe don't feel like it but you do it anyway. God is pleased with that kind of sacrifice. Thank Him and talk to Him as you would a friend! 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT) 16  Always be joyful. 17  Never stop praying. 18  Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

II. Ephesians 5:20 (NLT) Give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. A thankful attitude opens the windows of heaven. Spiritual blessings come to those who are thankful. As you look to God with a grateful heart, you grow in your relationship with Him. You can not live in heaven yet, but you can experience God's wonderful mercy and grace. Thanksgiving is not some sort of magical formula, it is the language of love which enables you to talk to God as with a close friend. A thankful mindset rejoices in God your Savior and Lord in the midst of trials and tribulations because as the bible says in Psalm 46:1 (NLT) God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

III. God is our ever present strength and help in time of trouble. Psalm 107:1-2 (NLT) 1  Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever. 2  Has the LORD saved your soul? Then be thankful! Tell somebody what God has done for you and wants to do for them. We must begin to think about others and not just ourselves. If we are truly thankful to God our Father for all He has done for us, we will pray for others and tell them what God has done for us so they too can be saved and brought into the family of God. 1 Timothy 2:1-6 (NKJV) 1  Therefore I urge first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2  for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4  who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5  For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6  who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. This is God's will for all people.

Invitation: You will never be thankful to God until you know His Son Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord. If you don't know Jesus as your Savior, just confess your sins to Him and ask Him to forgive you and save your soul from hell. The bible says He will in nowise turn you away if you are sincere. Do it right now, right where you sit. Don't let the devil give you excuses not to be saved, because it will lead you straight to hell.
